New York | The Den π£
Itβs been almost a year since my last visit, and I heard that the price has recently dropped to $250. I couldnβt resist paying another visit! π Firefly Squid π¦ The classic dish of dried squid with hairy crab has been updated to feature firefly squid. The squid is in season, and its high saltiness pairs perfectly with the umami flavors, making it an excellent choice for drinking. π» Sea Urchin Platter π£ ππ» Hokkaido Horsehair Urchin β the sweetest one ππ» California Purple Urchin β already melted ππ» Miyagi Purple Urchin β sticky texture, bitter taste ππ» Hokkaido Horsehair Urchin β has a slight gasoline flavor Spent an extra $110 for a tasting of four sea urchins, but the quality was really disappointing. I didnβt even bother to ask about the specific origins. π Octopus π From Kanagawa Prefecture, the octopus is cooked very tender, with a lot of mirin, giving it a slightly sweet flavor. π² Whitebait π Fried small silver fish. The fish itself has a mild flavor, but the oil from the frying adds a satisfying richness. π Japanese Hairtail Salt-Grilled Fish π The taste and texture are both good, but the portion size is just too small! aaaahhhh π Pickled Radish and Ginger Slices π« The pickled radish at The Den is truly delicious β sweet and tangy, with the radishβs unique bitterness adding a refreshing touch. The flavors are perfectly balanced. In contrast, the ginger slices were not as good β lacking in both sourness and sweetness, and had a rather mushy texture. π #NewYork #FineDining #Sushi ππ
