New York | The Dutch 🌟
Finally visited this long-saved spot. Yelp ratings are surprisingly low at just 3.5 stars, but it’s always bustling whenever I pass by. The brunch menu at noon isn’t very extensive, but it covers all the essentials and the portions are generous. 🥪 🌸 Hot Fried Chicken ($33) - This was a delightful surprise! Four pieces of fried chicken, which is half a chicken. The chicken is crispy on the outside but not greasy at all. The meat is juicy, even the breast meat, which is often dry in other places. 🎢 The biscuits are drizzled with honey butter sauce. The sweetness of the honey combined with the buttery aroma is fantastic. The coleslaw has a tangy dressing that cuts through the rawness of the cabbage. Normally, I avoid coleslaw because raw cabbage can have a strong, vegetal taste, but this one was perfectly tangy and crisp. 🍗 🍃 Double Dutch Burger ($28) - I ordered the beef patty medium, but it came out almost well-done. Still, it was juicy and moist, not dry. The sauce had a bit of a kick. It would have been perfect if it had been cooked medium. It’s quite filling; half a burger was enough for me. The fries are crispy, but a bit too salty. 🍔 🏙️ Many Yelp reviews mention issues with the service. In my experience, it was average. The staff didn’t check in frequently to ask how the food was or if we wanted dessert, but there were no negative experiences either. They were really busy with a constant stream of customers. The food had its moments of brilliance, but overall, it was pretty standard. I’d come back if I’m in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trip. It’s conveniently located near the river. On a warm day, it’s perfect to take a walk and enjoy the breeze after the meal. 🌇 🍃 131 Sullivan St, New York, NY 10012 #FoodShare #FoodDiary 🌟
