New York | The Hidden Old-Money Café in a Fine Art Gallery (1)🌟
On a whim, we visited Cafe Sabarsky, located near Central Park. It's said to be the best Austrian and German-style restaurant in all of New York. 🍃🌸 We were fortunate to be seated at the best spot. This café is situated on the first floor of the renowned Neue Galerie. 🌿 The Neue Galerie (German for "New Gallery") was co-founded by New Yorker Ronald S. Lauder (son of Estée Lauder and former U.S. Ambassador to Austria) and Viennese immigrant, art collector Serge Sabarsky. 🍃🌸 It primarily houses Austrian and German art. Though small, the gallery boasts a world-famous treasure—Gustav Klimt's "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I." The golden woman is lifelike, exuding opulence and grandeur, with a diamond necklace around her neck that seems to glow. This national treasure was purchased for $135 million from the Austrian National Gallery and now hangs on the second floor of this gallery. The movie "Woman in Gold" tells the legendary story of this painting. 🎨 🍃🌸 #NewYork 🌃
