New York | The Morgan Library & Museum
š This place is Morganās private collection, a combination of a library and a museum. Although itās called a library, the books inside are too ancient, so itās not open to the public. š Itās best to make a reservation before visiting. Thereās a free admission event every Friday from 5-7 pm, but it seems you need to book tickets in advance on the official website to get in. I actually didnāt know about the advance reservation, and I randomly passed by the museum on a Friday afternoon around 4 pm, seeing a sign that said free admission. When I entered, everyone was checking their tickets. I bluffed my way in by saying I couldnāt find my ticket, and the Indian sister at the door let me in. She was so nice! š The museum isnāt very large and mainly consists of 5 parts. There are guides available at the entrance that you can take to look at. Itās quite interesting to explore on your own. The overall architectural style is more European, with ceiling paintings. The carved beams and painted rafters are very luxurious. Some rooms are Gothic style, others Baroque. Itās a true representation of New Yorkās old money, giving you a strong sense of capitalist decayļ½ š Iāve visited many American museums and they all seem somewhat similar: thereās always a section of medieval or European collections; modern art/photography/emerging forms of expression are also part of it; and there are themed special exhibitions. š The main visitors this time were elderly people. Basically, no children and few young people. Maybe the young folks are at the bars on Friday nightsš #NewYork #NewYorkLife #NewYorkArtViewing #Museum #WorthVisitingMuseums #CulturalSightsShare #NewYorkMorganLibrary
