New York | The Noguchi Museum 🌿

Located in Queens, New York, The Noguchi Museum was established in 1974 when Isamu Noguchi acquired a former factory building and transformed it into a space dedicated to his artistic legacy. I had mostly seen his iconic lamps before, but today I finally got to experience a vast collection of sculptures by this master artist. I’m truly captivated by his use of light within this space—those slanted beams shining through the roof are absolutely magical✨, instantly giving the area a spiritual atmosphere. At first, I thought it was a video installation, but then I realized it was a framed view: a sheer curtain covering a full glass wall, with sunlight casting silhouettes of treetops onto the fabric. The moment the wind blew and the trees swayed, it turned into living art 🍃. The grid windows are not only beautifully designed, but when the curtains are drawn, the natural light filtering through feels just like his lamps—soft, dreamy, and soothing. Also, the museum shop is absolutely incredible! They have a wide range of lamp models, including styles that are hard to find back home. Beyond Noguchi’s works, the shop also features pieces by other talented artists. The curation is thoughtful—no generic items here, each piece feels special and worth owning. What’s your favorite Noguchi piece? Have you visited this gem?
