New York Β· Leitao
The Restaurant Where I Started Booking My Second Visit After the First Bite π½οΈ π Leitao My first taste of Portuguese cuisine, and I realized how much I've been missing out! Portuguese dishes also love chili, but in a more sour and spicy way that's super addictive (just like my obsession with Guizhou red sour soup). I almost wanted to take the sauce home to soak my rice. π π₯ I tried four dishes for the first time, and none of them disappointed. I was speechless with every bite! Salad de Polvo (Squid Salad): Made with a vinaigrette dressing, the level of sourness was just perfect. I felt happy just eating the greens. The squid was a bit salty but very tender and perfect when eaten with the leaves. π Ameijoas em Caldeirada (Clam Stew): A bowl of tangy and spicy clams. The clams were super fresh and well-cleaned, with minced meat and ham in the broth. It was this soup that made me want to take it home for my rice... π¦ͺ π₯ Francesinha (Portuguese Sandwich): This is a hearty dish, a traditional Portuguese sandwich. Inside the bread, there's a slice of Portuguese sausage, a slice of Italian salami, and a medium-rare filet mignon. The top bread is covered with sweet but not cloying mozzarella, and the bottom bread soaks up the Portuguese tomato-beer sauce... Yum! π Pasteis de Nata (Portuguese Egg Tarts): I've heard so much about Portuguese egg tarts, and this was my first time trying the authentic ones. They were topped with powdered sugar and cinnamon. They were a bit too sweet for me, and mine was slightly overcooked with a hint of caramelized sugar. π₯§ π₯ I'm already planning my second visit! There are still so many delicious dishes on the menu, like lamb chops and pork chops, that look amazing! π #NewYorkExploration #LifeInNorthAmerica ππ
