New York š Korean omakase!
To celebrate my bestieās big life milestone, I booked a spot at this new counter restaurant helmed by a renowned Michelin-starred chef from Koreaāand it totally lived up to the hypeā¼ļø Every dish was stunningly presented āØ, brimming with that distinct āKorean aestheticāāfrom the first course, mushroom rolls nestled in ābushesā š, to the uni and ikura crisp perched on a crab shell š¦, and the āmoonlight treasure boxā stuffed with caviar and wagyu. Everyone at the counter was whipping out their phones to snap photos. The serving methods were full of clever touches too: hamachi sashimi paired with freshly grated ice š§, a āblooming bouquetā of aged duck š¦, a personal mini stove for two with uni, ikura, shrimp, and seaweed rice š, and the grilled meat courses cooked right in front of us at the counter š„©. Iāve always thought fine dining isnāt just about tasteāit needs to satisfy all the senses to justify the price, and this place nailed it šÆ. You can really feel the chefās care, making it perfect for datesāso much warmth and ceremony šš». Another thing I loved: the ingredients are all Asian palate favorites. The raw courses lean into uni and ikura, thereās a comforting hot chicken soup with lobster noodles in the middle, and even the dessertsāchestnut ice cream and persimmon tart š¦āhit the spot. The two dishes that blew me away were the grilled sea eel and the aged duckāthe duck was way better than the one at the trendy Michelin-starred Francie, in my opinion. There were 10 courses total (I posted the menu at the end of the photos!), and the portions were surprisingly generous for fine diningāwe left so full we could barely walk. All in all, at $165, I think itās totally worth itāIāll definitely be back! The only downside was the manager, who went through the dish introductions a bit perfunctorily. Hope theyāll put more heart into it next time. Thatās it for todayās shareāhope I made you hungry! Follow me for more NYC life and food finds. Wishing everyone a productive new week at work! ⨠Gori ⨠243 E 58th St, New York, NY 10022 #100RestaurantChallenge #NewYorkKoreanFood #NewYorkFineDining #NewYorkHiddenGemKorean #NewYorkFood #NewYorkLife #NewYorkOmakase #NewYorkDateSpots
