New York Day Trip(2)
From J.D. Salinger, E.B. White to Woody Allen and other renowned writers, 44 short stories about New York span from the 1920s to the early 21st century, offering a glimpse into the changes of New York and its inhabitants over decades. π½β¨ ππ I spent a year reading this book, and each short story feels like a whole book. Perhaps due to the distance in time, the language from decades ago becomes more and more obscure as it gets further from now. ππBut I was pleasantly surprised to find that no matter how times change, some characteristics of New Yorkers have been preserved. Just like how New Yorkers occasionally pass by some drama with indifference, I skipped some articles in this book but also lingered in the chapters that interested me. ππ Last year, after buying this book, I continued to wander in the West Village, which I still hadn't figured out. ππ I stumbled upon a roadside sign that said, "Loving New York is never in vain." She helped me find a book that makes me love her even more deeply. β€οΈ #NewYork #NYCLife π½π
