New York Dining: Comal 🌟
We made a reservation for two, booking about a week in advance. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, mostly furnished with wooden tables and chairs. It wasn’t too crowded, so I think a walk-in might also work. The waitstaff were all very friendly and welcoming. 😊 Skewers – Lengua, Al Pastor The skewers had a distinctly Japanese feel, with a sweet and savory seasoning. They were quite enjoyable. 🍖 Chicken Liver Mousse, Jalapeno, Pickled Mustard The mousse was smooth and free of any liver-like taste. It had some crunchy grains on top, and the jalapeño added a touch of sweetness with just a hint of spice. 🍗 Mil Hojas Potato, Hoja Santa, Salsa Macha The layered potato dish was well-made, with a special peppery leaf inside. The accompanying chili oil was reminiscent of Chinese-style chili oil, which was quite tasty. 🥔 Birria Mussels, Cilantro, Preserved Lemon The mussels were pretty average, nothing particularly special. 🦪 Black Futzu Squash, Queso Fresco, Mole The roasted squash with mole sauce was delicious. I didn’t really taste the cheese in it. 🎃 Maitake Mushroom This dish wasn’t on the menu but was recommended to us. It was a simple roasted maitake mushroom, nothing extraordinary, but my brother and I thought it was fine. 🍄 #NewYork #NYCDining #FoodieAdventures 🌆🌟
