3️⃣ Photographed in an Arizona Native American Community On one side, the Indigenous community that has been protecting the natural landscape for generations. On the other, modern suburbs with water-intensive lifestyles and numerous swimming pools. The cracked riverbed acts like a scar, dividing two ways of life. Burtynsky's aerial shots clearly reveal the unequal distribution of resources, the looming water crisis, and the silent yet sharp tension in the imagery. 🌿 4️⃣ Tuscany, a Region of Marble Extraction From the Roman Empire to the present, Tuscany has been one of the most heavily quarried places on Earth for marble. Humans have used marble for sculptures, tabletops, and furniture, so the mining has never ceased. In the late 19th century, the working conditions for miners here were extremely harsh and severely overlooked. The town even became a center for the Italian anarchist movement. 🏰 💫 Edward Burtynsky: The Great Acceleration 📅 June 19 - September 28 📍 International Center of Photography #PhotographyExhibition #JoinMeAtTheExhibition #LargeFormatPhotography 📸🌟
