New York Exploration | Takashi Murakami's Ukiyo-e Exhibition π
This week, I visited Takashi Murakami's latest exhibition "JAPONISME β Cognitive Revolution: Learning from Hiroshige" at the Gagosian Gallery in New York, and I was deeply captivated by his creative philosophy and artworks. πΈ The exhibition features 121 paintings inspired by the works of the Japanese ukiyo-e master Utagawa Hiroshige, particularly his series "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo." Murakami not only reinterprets these classic pieces but also incorporates his signature characters and other ukiyo-e elements, creating a unique visual experience. ποΈ The show also includes his reinterpretations of 19th-century European Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works, exploring the influence of "Japonisme" on Western art and how this influence has fed back into contemporary Japanese art. π¨ π Exhibition Location: Gagosian Gallery, 522 W 21st St, New York ποΈ Exhibition Dates: May 8, 2025 β July 12, 2025 If you're interested in Japanese art, ukiyo-e, or contemporary art, this exhibition is an absolute must-see! π #TakashiMurakami#MurakamiExhibition π¨
