New York Exploration | Oheka Castle 🏰
I randomly bought this dress and thought of looking for the legendary Gatsby castle to take some photos. Then I found this Oheka Castle, which is also the filming location for Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.” I parked my car where Taylor smashed the car 🤣 I booked a Castle tour on the official website. It’s $20 for students and$30 for adults. The tour allows you to visit and listen to some explanations. After the tour, you get a 10% discount at the restaurant, which is not a necessary item. If you want to dine, you can make a reservation directly and still wander around and take photos. The tour gave me the long-lost feeling of listening to a history lesson, which was quite interesting, telling the past and present of this magnificent castle. The original owner loved hosting extravagant parties and was the prototype for Gatsby’s nightly revelries. The first lady of the house was the real-life version who inherited the fortune and the huge castle 🏰 after her husband’s death, but she didn’t become a merry widow. The high property taxes and maintenance costs made the castle a hot potato. The glitter and glamour eventually turned to dust with the passage of history. I briefly felt the atmosphere of old money and new money. I’m somewhere in between. I’m No Money 😅 🍴 But the restaurant here is really nothing special; it’s both expensive and not tasty… highly not recommended ❌❌❌ 💰 It’s about $70+ per person, but you’ll get a dinner that’s neither satisfying nor delicious. #NewYorkCheckIn #LongIsland #TheGreatGatsby #NewYorkExploration #NewYorkEatsAndDrinks #EastCoast #Exploring #BadFood #taylorswift #WeekendPlans
