New York Food Exploration | Free Mini Cake Wins the Day ๐ฐ
๐ Le Fanfare After a day of exploring Brooklyn with friends, we decided to check out this brunch spot. It was raining that day, and we were the first customers to arrive. The staff was incredibly welcoming and even let us pick the music! ๐ถ ๐ธ This Italian restaurant prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients from nearby farms, crafting dishes based on seasonal produce. My friend and I ordered the following: 1โฃ๏ธ Avocado Toast ๐ฅ My friend said it was pretty standard โ nothing particularly special about it. ๐ 2โฃ๏ธ Poached Eggs on Grilled Polenta with Sautรฉed Oyster Mushrooms I chose this dish because Iโd never tried anything like it before. Polenta is essentially cornmeal mush, and the overall texture reminded me of Chinese millet porridge. It was quite comforting on a cold, rainy morning, but it was way too salty. Iโm not sure if thatโs how Italian polenta is supposed to taste or if the chef just got a bit heavy-handed with the salt. ๐ ๐ข 3โฃ๏ธ Free Mini Cake Wins the Day! This was a delightful surprise appetizer that the staff served us. The cake was fluffy and looked layered, but it was surprisingly moist and had a lovely lemon aroma. It was dusted with a light layer of powdered sugar. Both my friend and I thought it was delicious! We later found out itโs an Italian cake called pandoro. We were so impressed that we even bought a large box from the Italian grocery store downstairs after we got home. ๐ฐ ๐ Overall, I thought the restaurant was pretty average. Maybe it just didnโt suit my taste buds, but I did gain a newfound appreciation for a new type of cake! #NewYork ๐๐
