New York French Restaurant: Le Gratin 🍽️

🌸We went for lunch and booked a table two hours in advance. The midday menu offers two set options: a $30 set with one appetizer and one main course, and a $45 set that includes an additional dessert. You can choose your own dishes from the menu. We ordered both sets. One appetizer was a blue cheese and vegetable salad, paired with pan-seared trout as the main course. The other appetizer was chicken liver mousse, followed by confit duck leg and chocolate mousse for dessert. Every dish was absolutely delicious! 🌟 🍃 The salad featured purple leaves (maybe red cabbage?), mixed with cheese and walnuts. It was refreshing, with a creamy and crunchy texture. The chicken liver mousse was shaped like biscuits, with a delicate texture. It had a slight gamey taste on its own, but paired perfectly with the sourdough bread and garnishes. The side dishes were also meticulously prepared, including celery, pickled cucumbers, and mustard sauce. 🥗 🎢 The pan-seared trout had crispy skin and tender, juicy fish. Americans love to grill or pan-sear trout and salmon, and this place has the best cooking technique I've tried so far. The confit duck leg was good, but not exceptional. The real star was the green beans underneath. They were soft and flavorful, absorbing the sauce and complementing the duck's taste perfectly. This dish was a highlight. 🍖 🌊 The chocolate mousse was smooth and rich in chocolate flavor, though a bit too sweet. Sharing it between two of us was just right. 🍫 🏙️I highly recommend every dish here. We'll definitely come back if we get the chance. 🌟 #NYCFood #ManhattanEats 🗽️🌟
