New York World Trade Center Site | Architectural Details (2)๐
From an architectural design perspective, this memorial site project is incredibly poetic. ๐ฟ๐ There are no buildings on the ground; instead, the footprints of the two fallen skyscrapers are preserved as sunken voids. The site of the buildings has been returned to the city, integrated into the lives of its citizens as a park. ๐ฟ๐Israeli architect Michael Aradโs concept, โReflecting Absence,โ uses nothingness to highlight presence. This pure emptiness constantly prompts us to look back and wonder what once was here and what we have lost. ๐ In the voids left by the disaster, the worldโs largest man-made waterfalls have been designed. ๐ฟ๐ The ceaseless flow of water, like relentless time that stops for nothing, serves as a reminder that the lives once here and the immense grief they inspire will forever remain in this place. ๐ #NewYork #USATravel #ArchitecturalDesign #LandscapeDesign ๐ฟ๐
