New York Yemeni Food – A Meat Lover’s Paradise

Back when I lived in Brooklyn, I tried Yemen Cafe in Bayridge (they even have special Ramadan menus!) and was absolutely blown away. This time, I decided to check out the one on Atlantic Avenue (now rebranded as Hadramout). The menu? ALL MEAT. Carnivores, rejoice! 😍🍖 First off, let’s talk about the bread—huge, the size of two faces, with a rich wheaty aroma, crispy yet thick and chewy. Many dishes come with it, but you can always order extra if needed. Salta (Stone Pot Beef Stew) – Slightly spicy, almost like Korean beef soup, with zucchini, eggplant, and other veggies. Super fragrant and savory! But beware: the stone pot keeps it boiling, so if you don’t eat it fast, it’ll dry up. ⏳🔥 Haneeth (Lamb Leg with Rice) – The lamb is tender, flavorful, and falls right off the bone. Highly recommended! 🐑💯 Kibda (Sautéed Lamb Liver) – So aromatic and buttery, with zero gaminess. The seasoning is slightly sweet—honestly, if it weren’t for the texture, you wouldn’t even know it’s liver! Agda Chicken (Stewed Chicken) – The chicken is roasted first, then shredded (with some bones left in). The tomato and spice flavors are intense. Since we already had lamb dishes, we opted for chicken—still delicious, but not as mind-blowing as the lamb. 🍗🤔 Every meal comes with a small salad and soup, plus a dipping sauce (save it for the meat and bread!). The sauce has a mild kick and strong minty flavor. 🌿🔥 The restaurant offers free self-serve mint tea, but it’s SUPER sweet. If that’s not your thing, just ask the server for tap water. #NYCFood #NYCEats #NYCFoodie #NYCMiddleEastern #NYCYemeniFood #MeatLover #NoFilter #Hadramout
