As summer arrives in New York, where do you go to beat the heat? Of course, it’s time to hit the water! 🌊 There’s one free summer water activity in New York you definitely don’t want to miss: kayaking at Brooklyn Bridge Park! It’s completely free and suitable for both adults and kids. Paddling towards the stunning Manhattan skyline is incredibly romantic! šŸŒ… The activity will be open to the public starting next week (May 29th). Spots are limited and require advance reservation—time to test your speed! ā° ā­ļøā­ļøā­ļø **New York Free Kayaking** **Brooklyn Bridge Park Free Kayaking** šŸ“† Opens from May 29th, 2024, until the end of September - Wednesday & Thursday: 5 PM - 7 PM - Saturday: 10 AM - 3 PM - Sunday: 12 PM - 2:30 PM šŸ“ Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 4 The kayaking program at Brooklyn Bridge Park began in 2010 and has been free since 2013. It aims to help the public better enjoy the recreational opportunities offered by the East River and New York’s waterfront. Tens of thousands of people participate in the free kayaking activities each year. Every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, Brooklyn Bridge Park offers free kayaking until the end of September. Each person can register for a 20-30 minute session, paddling in a specially designated bay. The organizers provide the kayaks, paddles, and life jackets—all completely free. Once you’ve made your reservation, just show up and enjoy! The views from the park are spectacular. You’ll see the beautiful Lower Manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the romantic harbor scenery. You’re not just paddling a boat; you’re paddling through a postcard! šŸ“ø There are two types of kayaks available: ā˜‘ļø **Single Kayaks** for adults or children over 14 (with adult supervision) ā˜‘ļø **Double Kayaks** for one adult and one child or two adults Staff will be on hand to teach you how to paddle, so beginners can feel confident to give it a go! Lifeguards on the water will be wearing red vests, so if you have any questions, just look for the red vests. 🌟 Every Sunday is Family Day, from 12 PM to 2:30 PM, when the water is reserved for families with children. On Family Day, children over 7 years old can paddle on their own. 🌻 Transportation Tips: The dock is at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 4. Parking in the area is limited, so public transportation is highly recommended!
