New Zealand Accommodation Guide (Part 2)
Planning your New Zealand trip and wondering where to stay? Here’s the ultimate guide! 🏡 1️⃣ Auckland ✔ For layovers: Stay near the airport (check my NZ Travel Series #4 for overnight tips! ✈️) ✔ For city exploration: Book a downtown hotel for convenience. 🏙️ 2️⃣ Christchurch ✔ City sightseeing: Pick a central hotel with parking—attractions like Avon River, Cardboard Cathedral, and The Arts Centre are all walkable! 🚶♂️ ✔ Riccarton area: Close to the city, with Asian supermarkets & restaurants + easy airport access. 🥡 3️⃣ Tekapo 🌠 Stay near the Church of the Good Shepherd for stargazing! If joining a Mt. John tour, it’s also a great base. 4️⃣ Cromwell 🍇 Unless staying a full day, Queenstown is a better hub (just 1hr drive away). 5️⃣ Queenstown ✔ Adventure central! Stay downtown with parking (walk to activities—parking is tough!). 🚗➡️🚶 ✔ Day trips: Glenorchy & Arrowtown are ~1hr away. Arrowtown has more amenities if you must stay overnight. 6️⃣ Wanaka 🌳 Book town center—steps away from ThatWanakaTree & lakeside cafes. 7️⃣ Fox Glacier ❄️ Stay in Fox Glacier village—tiny but convenient for glacier hikes (meeting point is here!). 8️⃣ Hokitika ✨ Beachfront stays = best! Key spots (glowworm caves, clock tower) are nearby. 9️⃣ Greymouth 🏞️ Town center = more dining options. Pancake Rocks are 15-20km away (limited lodgings there). 🔟 Kaikoura 🐋 Near whale watching spots (more restaurants) OR town center (closer to seal colonies!). Need booking tips?
