Nijubashi Bridge at the Imperial Palace 🏰
A historic relic of the Edo Castle, with a strong sense of history. 🍃🌸 After exiting Hibiya Park, it doesn't take long to reach the Imperial Palace area, which is currently the residence of the Japanese Emperor. 🌟This area, once named "Kyūjō," is the site of the former Edo Castle built during the Muromachi period by Ota Dokan. The present-day Imperial Palace consists of the "Goten" (the Emperor's residence), the "Kyūden" (the venue for public ceremonies and state affairs), and the Imperial Household Agency (a Japanese administrative body). 🌿 🍃🌸 You can currently walk directly up to the Nijubashi Bridge, which is located in front of the main gate of the Imperial Palace. 🌟The stone bridge in front is also known as the Spectacles Bridge. The iron bridge inside is situated at the site of the former Nishinomaru bridge in Edo Castle. 🍃🌸 In the early years, due to the deep moat water and the low height of the old bridge, an additional bridge was built on top, creating a double-decker structure, hence the name "Nijubashi" (Double Bridge). 🌉 🍃🌸The area is guarded by sentries, and the bridge is only open to the public during special periods, allowing visitors who have made reservations to cross the bridge and enter the palace grounds for tours. 🌟 #ExploreThisCityForFree 🌆#ImperialPalace 🏰
