No Hype, No Crowds: A Laid-Back City Walk in Virginia Beach 🚶♀️🌊
For Labor Day, we drove about 4 hours from DC to Virginia Beach with no real plans—just vibes. My husband loves camping, so we booked a spot at KOA 🏕️. The campground had a pool, live outdoor music at night 🎵, and solid facilities. It was such a fun experience! On 31st Street, the beach was PACKED 🏖️👀—umbrellas and people everywhere, barely room to walk. But the restaurants and bars along the shore were lively and inviting. We popped into a few randomly, and no regrets! Prices were a bit higher but reasonable. We originally tried a popular viral spot (even skipped Happy Hour to avoid crowds!), but were quoted a 2-hour wait ⏳. We left our number and wandered around, but even after two hours—no call. So we walked into the next door Irish pub 🍀—and what a happy accident! Their oysters were even cheaper than the famous spot’s Happy Hour—$0.75 each 🦪! Plus, they had a live outdoor band 🎤 with great vibes and surprisingly good music. We ate well, drank better, and had a blast. Next morning, we woke up early and not super hungry, so we found a random coffee shop ☕. Another win—the coffee was delicious, pastries were fresh, and the two baristas were super sweet and cheerful 😊. Walking out felt like the perfect slow morning. In the afternoon, we went on a dolphin tour 🐬✨. We chose a small boat—just a few dollars more than the big ones—and it was worth every penny. Fewer people, better views, no blocked sightlines for photos 📸. We saw pods of dolphins swimming alongside us. Absolutely unforgettable! Moral of the story? Skip the hype. Avoid the hour-long waits. Sometimes the unplanned, non-trendy spots bring the most joy—and better value 🙌. #DMV #StudyInUSA #CoffeeTime #Virginia #VA #NatureLovers #TravelUnscripted
