Nordic Travel – My Impressions of Tallinn's Old Town
💗One of the iconic landmarks of Tallinn's Old Town is Viru Gate, one of the main entrances to the medieval city, 💗originally built between 1345 and 1355. 🔹Just outside the gate stands the white Original Sokos Hotel Viru, 💗and walking toward Viru Gate felt like stepping from the turbulent Middle Ages into the relative peace of modern civilization. 💗Olde Hansa is quite famous locally—its interior decor, the servers' medieval-style attire,🔹 💗 and even the tableware all recreate an authentic old-world atmosphere,🔹 🧀which is probably why it draws so many visitors. The tavern has seating both inside and outside, 🧀but I recommend sitting indoors for a more immersive experience.🔹 For dinner, 🧀I ordered slow-roasted wild boar (€36.00), a seafood and vegetable salad (€15.80), 🧀bread (€3.50), and a cold beer (€7.80 per glass). Wild game in Tallinn is noticeably pricier than regular dishes, 💦and beer and drinks are generally expensive in the Nordics. 🔹That said, the food here was just average—not as good as Tule. 💦Another unique feature of this tavern is the live classical music performances by women in medieval dress. 💦At 6 PM sharp, they begin playing, 🔹moving from the first floor to the second before settling by the street-facing window, 💦allowing even outdoor diners to enjoy the elegant melodies. 💦The scene looked straight out of a Renaissance painting. #NordicTravel #Estonia #EuropeTravel #TallinnOldTown
