North Carolina | Where to go during fall break | North Carolina Zoo 🦒

Autumn is truly the perfect season to get out and play! For those who don’t want to travel far during fall break, you can visit the North Carolina Zoo. It’s about a 1.5-hour drive from Durham. Apart from the Asian zoo area which is still under construction, they have pretty much all the other animals! Let me share a few of my favorites: 1️⃣ North American Exhibit 🦊 I saw an Arctic fox that was adorably charming and seemed out of place in these ordinary hills. It had such a mystical aura. 2️⃣ African Exhibit 🦒 I was most excited to see the giraffes, but I arrived too late and the giraffe trek was already closed (closes at 2 PM, so go early!) 🐘 There were a few elephants, each minding their own business and eating. 3️⃣ I can’t remember which exhibit this was, haha 🐢 In front of the giraffes, there was a small pond with turtles that had “long hair.” I don’t know if it’s a breed or because they’re old… Who would have thought we’d spend half an hour watching two turtles play? We were all making wishes to them, haha. 🦍 There was a gorilla who was already in his twenties. They don’t have the best temper or patience, and one even ran over to pound on the glass. Annoying humans… 🐍 There were many species of snakes, all looking ready to hibernate at any moment. 🦌 There’s also a large savannah area. I wish we could have booked a drive-through. The savannah is mainly home to Thompson’s gazelles and some “latte”-colored animals that I can’t remember the name of. Tips: ✅ Opening hours: 9 AM - 5 PM. It’s recommended to go early as the park is huge and you can’t cover it all in half a day! ✅ Bring your own water and sunscreen since you’ll be outdoors all day. Make sure to stay hydrated and protected from the sun. ✅ Buy tickets in advance on the official website to save time queuing. You can also check out the daily activities and performance schedules, and see if you can book a drive-through trip. Overall, this place is not only great for getting close to animals but also an excellent spot to relax and enjoy nature! 🌳 Make sure to experience it if you get the chance! #NorthCarolinaTravel #FamilyTrip #ZooAdventure #NaturalBeauty #WeekendGetaway #LocalSecrets #NorthCarolinaZoo #NorthCarolinaStateZoo #FallBreak #WhereToGoForFallBreak
