NY Sake Brewery Tour - Dassai Blue ๐Ÿถ

๐ŸƒI heard that Dassai, the famous sake brand, has opened a local brewery in New York called Dassai Blue. The name "Blue" for their US line signifies "surpassing the original" โ€“ a play on the idea of being even better than the source. ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŠ So, I booked a Tasting Tour on their official website. It took less than two hours to drive there. ๐Ÿš— ๐ŸŒธFor the snacks, you can choose between Japanese or Western options. When I went, the Japanese selection was sold out, so I opted for the Western one. The flavors were pretty good! ๐Ÿฅช The tour included a visit to the entire brewery. The tasting featured Dassai 23, Dassai 23 Namazake (unpasteurized sake), and Dassai 50. ๐ŸŽข Namazake is a special treat you can only enjoy at the brewery, and itโ€™s also available for purchase, though it has a short shelf life of just 7 days. ๐Ÿถ ๐ŸŒŸ Dassai Blue has slightly reduced the alcohol content. ๐ŸƒThey still use Japanese rice but source their water locally. Personally, I think itโ€™s not as good as the original from Japan. Apparently, starting in March, theyโ€™ll use locally sourced American rice. Weโ€™ll probably be able to taste it by May. ๐ŸŒพ ๐ŸŒŸAt the brewery, a bottle of Dassai 23 Blue costs only around $70, which is $20 cheaper than buying the Japanese version at a regular store. Considering the price difference, the taste difference is negligible. ๐Ÿ’ฐ #NewYork ๐ŸŒƒ๐ŸŒŸ
