NYC’s Iconic Murray’s Cheese Is Unveiling Its First-Ever Holiday Window Display — And It’s A Cheesy Winter Wonderland
At the risk of sounding cheesy, we honestly don’t know where New York City would be without its legendary Murray’s Cheese. From hunting down the perfect Gruyère for a golden grilled cheese to a truffled brie to elevate our charcuterie board, Murray’s has always delivered the goods. And now, this Greenwich Village icon is doing something totally unexpected: unveiling its first-ever holiday window display. On Tuesday, November 18 at 5 pm, the cheesemongers at Murray’s will pull back the curtain on an over-the-top, cheese-filled winter wonderland. The whimsical display reimagines Bleecker Street in miniature form, surrounded by the NYC skyline and complete with a crew of adorable cheese characters. Every inch of the festive scene is handcrafted, cut, and painted by Brooklyn-based artist and set designer Theresa Rivera, whose creative studio has worked with Annie Leibovitz, Beyoncé, and even Michelle Obama. Rivera, known for her vibrant murals honoring essential workers during the pandemic–still visible today at Rockefeller Center–brings her signature warmth and artistry to this cozy new Murray’s tradition.
