NYC|Review of Delmonico's: The Century-Old Steakhouse on Wall Street

My first formal dinner upon landing in New York was at the legendary Delmonico's — an iconic fine dining institution that’s been part of American culinary history since 1837. With nearly 200 years of legacy, the restaurant embodies classic "old money" elegance, where the atmosphere and food quality remain impeccable. 📍 Location & Reservation Address: 56 Beaver St, New York, NY 10004 (Wall Street) Reservations: Via official website, Resy, or OpenTable 👔 Dress code: Smart casual (no hats for gentlemen) 💰 Approximately $200+ per person (tax, service fee, tip included — cash is slightly cheaper than card) 🍴 What We Ordered & Honest Thoughts 🥖 Bread Basket Warm, soft, and served with butter and freshly ground black salt — a simple, comforting start. 🥗 Appetizers Caesar Salad: Crisp romaine leaves layered with anchovies and generous Parmesan shavings — fresh and tangy. Main Crab Cake: Crispy shredded potato crust, sweet crab meat inside, served with a smooth green herb sauce — more impressive than expected! Caramelized Bacon: Thick-cut, sugar-glazed, savory, juicy, and rich — highly recommended for bold flavor lovers. 🥩 Steaks (Medium Rare) We ordered three signature cuts — ranked by preference: Dry Aged Bone-In New York Strip: The star of the night! Dry aging intensified the beef's aroma, and the meat was incredibly juicy, tender, and buttery. Porterhouse for Two: Massive portion, great for sharing, excellent quality — though slightly less rich than the NY Strip. Signature Delmonico Ribeye: Surprisingly the least tender of the three — firmer texture, required more chewing. 🍟 Sides Hash Browns & Sautéed Mushrooms — portions were huge, almost main-course size. For 2–3 people, one side is enough! 🍰 Dessert Baked Alaska: Ordered mainly for the flaming meringue spectacle! Topped with liquor and set aflame at the table — visually stunning but extremely sweet. Sorbet & Ice Cream: Standard and refreshing. 💡 Final Take: Delmonico's delivers a timeless NYC dining experience — historic, elegant, and satisfying. For steak lovers, the Dry Aged NY Strip is an absolute must-try. Just pace yourself with the sides and save room for a (less sweet) dessert! #Foodie #NYCSteak #NYCEats #MustTryNYC #Delmonicos #HistoricDining #FineDiningNYC #WallStreetEats
