NYC|Taro Mochi Doughnuts & Sausage Sticky Rice Croissants 🍩🥐

The newly opened Papa d’amour — from the team behind Dominique Ansel — focuses on Asian-inspired pastries, lava cakes, sandwiches, and toast sets. On my way to class today, I picked up two items to try. Both were a bit on the greasy side, but packed with flavor!❤️ The taro mochi doughnut reminded me of the fried taro rolls you’d find at dim sum. The shell was thin and crispy (though quite oily), and inside was a generous piece of soft, chewy vanilla mochi. The taro flavor was somewhat subtle, overshadowed by the mochi, but a tangy guava-strawberry jam added a nice touch of sweetness and acidity. The sausage croissant roll had a surprise inside — savory sticky rice cooked with soy sauce! 🍙 No wonder they asked if I wanted it heated. It felt like a creative take on the Chinese shaomai or stuffed rice pastries. The filling was generous with sausage, shiitake mushrooms, and nori — fragrant and savory-sweet. The croissant itself was just okay, fairly rich and buttery (maybe a bit too much so).💕 A friend recommended their black sesame molten cake, which I’ll definitely try next time! Overall, Papa d’amour offers some fun, indulgent Asian-fusion treats — perfect for when you’re craving something rich and comforting with a creative twist. #PapaDamour #DominiqueAnsel #AsianPastries #NYCBakery #TaroMochi #StickyRiceCroissant #NYCEats #FoodFusion #NYCFoodie #NewInNYC #SweetAndSavory #TreatYourself #NYCLife
