๐Ÿฅฉ NYC's Cuban-Chinese Fusion Gem: Tender Steak Under $40!

Ever tried Cuban-Chinese fusion? Calle Dao blends these vibrant culinary worlds in a dimly lit, neon-accented space that feels like a cozy Havana bar โ€” complete with playful touches like โ€œๅซ็”Ÿ้—ดโ€ (restroom) signs that nod to the Chinese influence. ๐ŸŽŒ๐ŸŽท The vibe is warm, lively, and full of character โ€” wooden tables, tropical energy, and friendly staff who make you feel right at home. We visited the Bryant Park location on a weekday evening, and it was packed, so reservations are a good idea! ๐Ÿฆ Grilled Shrimp Two skewers of tender, smoky shrimp glazed in a tangy-sweet sauce โ€” a juicy, flavorful start. ๐ŸฅŸ Papas Rellenas Crispy fried beef croquettes with thin shells and generously spiced fillings. A crowd favorite โ€” perfectly savory and not greasy! ๐Ÿฅฉ Steak ($40!) A classic Cuban-style plate: tender, perfectly cooked steak (we went medium-rare) served with savory beans, rice, and sweet plantains. The steak itself was the star โ€” juicy and well-seasoned โ€” though the beans and plantains might be an acquired taste for some. ๐Ÿฅ˜ Paella Made with black rice and loaded with shrimp, squid, clams, and mussels in a fragrant sauce. I prefer firmer rice, but the flavors were rich and satisfying. ๐Ÿฎ Desserts Flan โ€” Just like the emoji ๐Ÿ˜‹, creamy and not too sweet. Tres Leches โ€” A moist sponge cake soaked in milky goodness, rich and comforting. ๐Ÿน Drinks Tried the Chan Chan (quite boozy) and Mojito Mocktail (on the tangy side). Stick to the food โ€” itโ€™s where Calle Dao truly shines! ๐Ÿ‘ Service was exceptionally warm and helpful โ€” our server enthusiastically recommended dishes and kept the energy high all evening. With generous portions, bold flavors, and an unbeatable vibe, Calle Dao is perfect for a fun night out with friends or a flavorful date. Donโ€™t miss the steak and those incredible croquettes! ๐Ÿ“ Calle Dao (Bryant Park & other locations) ๐Ÿ’ฐ Around $40โ€“$50 per person #CalleDaoNYC #CubanChineseFusion #NYCEats #SteakDeal #BryantParkEats #LatinFusion #NYCRestaurants #AffordableNYC #FoodieAdventure #NYCDining #FunDining
