NYC | The Perfect Soup-Filled Pan-Fried Buns 🥟✨
With Blossoms Shanghai being all the buzz lately, it’s time to share my top-tier Shanghainese spot! Just a short walk from Flushing Main St. station, look for the sign that says “New York’s No. 1 Xiao Yang Sheng Jian.” 🏮🇨🇳 We ordered a feast: Shanghai Pan-Fried Buns (white for pork, black for shrimp 🍤) Steamed Pork Buns Wood Ear & Braised Wheat Gluten Shanghai Greens with Mushrooms Fried Gluten Puffs Stuffed with Meat Crab Roe Tofu Pork & Shepherd’s Purse with Rice Cakes And fresh soy milk to drink! 🥛 Though each dish looked reasonably sized, our group of 6–7 couldn’t finish it all—maybe we hadn’t worked up enough appetite after karaoke! 😂 The star, of course, was the sheng jian bao: crispy-bottomed, thin-skinned, and filled with savory, soupy goodness. One bite and the broth bursts out—just be careful not to splash! 💦😋 I love the cozy, homestyle vibe here—warm, authentic, and straight out of a Shanghai neighborhood eatery. While there are different styles of pan-fried buns, this one truly brings back memories of the classic Xiao Yang Sheng Jian flavor. It’s a solid choice in NYC—wish it were in Manhattan too! 🥹❤️ 📍 Shanghai Eats 44-10 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY 11355 #NYCFood #Shanghainese #PanFriedBuns #FlushingEats #NYCEats #ChineseFood #ComfortFood #HiddenGems #NYCDining #FoodieFinds #XiaoYangShengJian #BlossomsShanghai #BunsOfJoy
