NYC’s four well-known spots for cardamom buns are: 🥇 Smor 🥈 Fabrique 🥉 La Cabra 4️⃣ Watch House Here’s my personal ranking (and why): 🥇 Smor – Best overall. Cheapest (three for under $15), second-largest size, least sweet, balanced spice. Just a bit out of the way location-wise. 🥈 Fabrique – Delicious but inconsistent. First try (Grand Central) was underbaked and sticky inside; second try (Chelsea) was perfect. Larger than Smor, slightly sweeter, strong cardamom aroma. 🥉 La Cabra – Most famous, smallest size, moderate value. Cardamom strong on the outside but mild inside. Sweeter and richer—maybe the most butter and sugar of the four. 4️⃣ Watch House – Nice ambiance, friendly service, served warm… but tasted more like a cinnamon bun than cardamom. Smallest and priciest.
