NYC Omakase Review | Sanyuu West ๐Ÿฃ

Recently tried Sanyuu West, an understated omakase spot in Chelsea, and hereโ€™s my honest take! ๐Ÿ“ Location & First Impressions 228 W 18th St, New York, NY 10011 Fair warning โ€” this place is easy to miss! The entrance is minimalist (to put it nicely ๐Ÿ˜…), with no prominent signage. We actually thought it was closed until a nearby doorman pointed it out. The gray-toned facade blends a little too well with the street! ๐Ÿ—“ Reservations & Seating Reservations are required. Even with a booking, we waited a bit for the previous group to finish before being seated all together. We sat at the bar โ€” great for watching the chef work, though itโ€™s a tight, no-frills setup. ๐Ÿ’ต Pricing We went with the base omakase at $87 per person (before tax/tip) โ€” seems like prices recently increased. For the amount and quality, itโ€™s fairly reasonable by NYC omakase standards. ๐Ÿฃ Food & Experience Mostly sushi-based courses Seasoning was subtle, not overpowering Rice had good texture and temperature Pacing was relaxed โ€” no rush between pieces You can add extras based on daily availability ๐Ÿ“Œ Final Thoughts Sanyuu West is a solid but not mind-blowing omakase experience. It wonโ€™t disappoint, but it might not become your top favorite either. A decent option if you're looking for good-value omakase without the hype โ€” just donโ€™t expect dramatic flair or insta-famous presentations. #OmakaseNYC #SanyuuWest #NYCEats #SushiLovers #QuietSpot
