NYC Txikito 🍖
Txikito specializes in Basque tapas from Spain. The main reason I love this place is its light seasoning, which is rare in the US. It’s truly a breath of fresh air not to feel overwhelmed by saltiness. Gilda A typical tapas snack with anchovy, olive, and pickled pepper. Perfect for a pre-drink appetizer but not substantial enough for a main meal. At $10 for just a couple of bites, it’s more of a treat than a meal. 🍔 Croquettes Just average. Nothing special, but they get the job done. 🍟 Pulpo Thin slices of octopus with olive oil. The octopus is thinly sliced, but honestly, the olive oil could use a bit more flavor. I ordered bread to go with it, but unfortunately, the bread lacked aroma and was served cold. 🦑 Quisquillas These are fried shrimp, crispy and delicious, even the heads are edible. They remind me of the fried river shrimp I used to enjoy at home. This dish is off the menu, only available when the ingredients are in stock. The waiter mentioned they hadn’t had it for days, and I happened to be there on the day they got a fresh batch. I joked that I’m the lucky one! 🍤 📍 Txikito #NewYork 🗽
