π NYC Whale Watching Guide | 6 Hours of Ocean Magic
We went to the US Open in early September and spontaneously decided to go whale watching in Brooklyn β and it turned out to be the most magical part of our NYC trip! Hereβs everything you need to know to plan your own adventure. π Tour Company: We went with American Princess Cruises β the main operator at the Brooklyn piers. Their boats are large and stable, the crew is professional, and their reputation is well-deserved. π Location: Pier 6, Brooklyn π From Manhattan: Subway: Take the R or 2/3/4/5 lines β 15-20 min walk to the pier Ferry: NYC Ferry South Brooklyn line β get off at Brooklyn Bridge Park/Pier 1 β walk to Pier 6 Uber: We took one from Lincoln Harbor, NJ β easy & affordable for 4 people π« Tickets & Booking: Adults: $55β65 Kids: $35β45 Book online in advance β they sometimes offer small discounts! β° Schedule & Experience: Duration: 3β4 hours (round trip + whale searching) Times: Usually 9:00 AM or 1:30 PM β check their website as schedules vary and trips may be canceled due to weather Our trip: We took the afternoon tour β perfect light for photos! A marine biologist onboard helped spot wildlife. We saw humpback whales breaching in the distance π, and dolphins swimming alongside the boat π¬ β truly unforgettable! β οΈ Tips: Dress warmly β itβs windy! I wore my Nobis outerwear + GM sunglasses + New Era cap π (stylish & practical) Take non-drowsy motion sickness pills β even if you donβt usually get seasick! Bring a telephoto lens for quality shots, but a phone is great for quick captures β the boat moves a lot! β After the Tour: Spot swans π¦’ and seabirds near the pier, then grab coffee and pastries at PEP Bakehouse and Coffee Shop β just 5 mins away. Refuel before heading back to the city! A breathtaking escape from the city β highly recommended for nature lovers and adventurers! ππΈ #NYCWhaleWatching #BrooklynTours #NYCTravel #WhaleWatching #HiddenNYC #TravelTips #USOpen #OceanAdventure #NYCGuide
