Off-the-Beaten-Path Spots in Tokyo, Japan

The Sword Museum by Kengo Kuma 🌟 🌺🌇 During my trip to the Hokusai Museum, I stumbled upon this building. Initially, I was drawn by the name "Sword Museum," but as I got closer, I realized this place is truly remarkable! 🏰 🌸🍃The museum has three floors: 1F: Lobby, souvenir shop, and relaxation area 2F: Offices 🌺🌇 3F: Exhibition hall and rooftop garden 🌊🎢The exterior and landscape are primarily composed of concrete, metal panels, and stone. 🌸🍃 The low-profile structure, combined with the garden park at the back, creates a relaxing and spacious atmosphere. 🌿 The interior features glass, metal, and wood, showcasing a modern and sleek style while also reflecting traditional Japanese aesthetics. 🌊🎢 The relaxation area faces the garden. Though the building is compact, it offers an open view and excellent natural lighting. 🌇 🌸🍃From what I've found, the museum was designed by architect Kengo Kuma and opened in 2018. It was originally located in Shibuya but was later relocated to Sumida. I highly recommend that anyone heading to the Hokusai Museum take a detour to visit this place. 🌊🎢 It's a great opportunity to learn about Japanese sword culture and history, and it's also a perfect spot to unwind and take a break! 🌸 #ArchitecturePhotography #Tokyo 📸
