Omakase Assassin, But I Met It Anyway 🍣

🌸How could I come to New York and not try Omakase? 🌟 I had bookmarked several places, and today, since I was in the city to look at rings, I decided to try Kinzan Omakase for lunch—it was conveniently located and on my way. There were two price options listed outside: $89 and $69. But once inside, the only menu on the table was for $89. I asked the waiter, and he said the $69 option was unavailable because of rising food costs (I’m not sure if it was just for the weekend or gone for good 😢). 🍃 I only managed to take a photo of the first dish, intending to document how many pieces I would eat. But since I don’t usually take photos of my meals and I was really hungry today, I completely forgot about it after the first few bites. By the third piece, I realized I hadn’t taken more photos and just gave up, haha. I thought even if it was 13 pieces for $89, it seemed reasonable. 🎢 But to be honest, the whole meal didn’t leave any particularly memorable moments. The sauce pairings didn’t wow me, the sushi rice balls were on the small side, and the flavors were just average. My boyfriend gave me his sea urchin and the last little hand roll, and even though I usually have a small appetite, I didn’t feel full or satisfied after finishing them. After the meal, I didn’t add any extra items and quickly paid the bill to continue shopping. But in the end, I was “stabbed” by a mandatory 18% tip 💔. I wasn’t sure about the rules here in New York. I usually tip 15% for lunch, 18% for dinner, and 20% for late-night meals, but this place just added 18% to the bill without any options. I felt a bit upset. 🌊 After all, I had bookmarked several other places around $50 with no tip required—why didn’t I go there instead? 😭 #NYCFoodie #OmakaseNYC 🍣
