Palais Badia (El Badi Palace) π°β¨οΌ2οΌ
Architectural Features ποΈπ§ Central Courtyard π³π¦ πThe heart of the palace is a huge rectangular courtyard, about 135 meters long and 110 meters wide. In the center, there is a large pool, surrounded by symmetrical gardens and fountains. π Walking through this courtyard, you can almost imagine the grand scenes that once took place here, with nobles strolling and water splashing from the fountains π§. Four Grand Pavilions ποΈπ π³At the four corners of the courtyard, there used to be magnificent pavilions used for receiving guests and holding ceremonies. Among them, the "Qubbat al - Khamsiniya" on the west side was the sultan's reception hall, famous for its 50 columns π’. Standing in front of these pavilions, you can't help but be in awe of the architectural ingenuity of the ancient Moroccans ππ. Decorative Materials π¨π The interior of the palace was once paved with exquisite mosaic tiles (zellij), featuring intricate patterns and vibrant colors . ποΈπThe plaster walls were carved with fine details, depicting various scenes and motifs . And the ceilings were gilded, adding a touch of luxury and grandeur to the whole space πβ¨. These decorative elements together represent the model (I'll use "epitome" here as it fits better in English) of Moroccan Islamic architecture ππ«. #MoroccoTravel #Marrakech #MarrakechAdventures
