Paris Afternoon Tea | Cédric Grolet’s

🍰 It’s been a long time since I’ve posted about a Parisian foodie checkpoint I’ve accumulated so many experiences that I haven’t shared Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the afternoon tea at Cédric Grolet’s place 👉🏻 We booked at the Opéra location, where the tea-time is served on the second floor 📎 You need to book through the official website and pay in advance (turns out I was a Santa Claus for a day, as I realized I forgot to pay after leaving the shop! My friend just gave a mysterious smile 😂 ✨ Once you arrive, wait in the appointed line, and a staff member will invite you in 💰 Without champagne, it’s 65 euros per person; with champagne, it’s 80 euros ⏰ The tea time slots run from 12h to 16h, with each slot lasting 1.5h 💕 About the products Each person gets 3 sandwiches + 7 small desserts (we had 5 small tarts and 2 cookies) + two drinks + a warm dessert/bread to taste or take away ✨ The sandwiches are quite filling (so we only took a few bites before diving into the desserts 🤣) They were hyped up by the staff, and while the taste was good, they were quite common combinations (ham and cheese with truffles, salmon with caviar, cucumber with sour cream). There are many people online who mock Cédric for selling a sandwich jambon beurre for a sky-high price of 30 euros 🙈 ✨ The 5 small tarts, in summary, were all gooey with cream. As my friend put it, it felt like we paid 65 euros to taste 5 small tarts that looked and tasted the same. It didn’t feel like we were taken seriously 😢 I’ve tried some of the regular-sized tarts from the shop before, and they were truly layered and rich in flavor, especially because Cédric isn’t shy about using vanilla, so the taste is really something 💕 I would recommend trying the individual-sized tarts in the shop; the afternoon tea is not necessary. ✨ The 2 cookies were a letdown; other tables got a cookie and a choux, but when my friend saw their choux, she said it was lucky we didn’t get the choux 😂 The cookies, according to my friend, were like eating raw cookie dough – hard to argue with that. We even suspected if these mini cookies were forgotten in the oven? 😂 Because a cookie this size should be baked for no more than 5 minutes and it would be obvious if it were cooked 💕 I tried Cédric’s large peanut cookie in September, and my boyfriend finished it in a few bites, which shows it was tasty, so maybe it’s just the afternoon tea that’s the issue 😂 ✨ There were also some brioche cakes on the middle table, and the staff offered to cut whatever we wanted to eat or take away ✨ Since bread is quite common, I was more interested in the beautifully decorated cake, but it was disappointing. The chocolate vanilla cream on top tasted odd, not rich or smooth 🥹 When leaving, I noticed the downstairs shop was about to close, and they also had a few brioches left, so it’s a win-win to offer them to the afternoon tea guests or for takeaways, haha 👉🏻 In conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend the afternoon tea, but I still suggest you try Cédric Grolet’s desserts if you have the chance. #ParisDesserts #ParisAfternoonTea
