Paris Spots No Tour Group Will Take You To
Years later, I visited Fontainebleau for the fourth time—and it’s still as cool and serene as ever. The lake shimmers like a transparent gem💎. The palace itself isn’t large, and since it’s far from the city center, most tourists head to Versailles instead. So there are never many people here, which is lovely. In the afternoon, I wandered through the forest. The trees were heavy with ripe dogwood fruits, and every so often, I’d hear a “plop” as one fell to the ground. Step on it, and it would burst, oozing deep red juice🍯. I sat under a tree for a picnic; swans glided leisurely across the lake alongside rowboats, and a bold wild duck even wandered over to me, curious, as if it wanted to rummage through my bag to see if there was any food inside🦆. The Chinese name (Fēngdān Báilù) comes from Zhu Ziqing’s translation—and in my heart, it’s the most beautiful geographical translation ever, even ahead of Xu Zhimo’s (Fěilěngcuì for Florence) and Xiāngxiè Lìshè for Champs-Élysées). Just hearing the name, you can imagine the vivid, colorful autumn scenery here. The name “Fontainebleau” is generally thought to combine two words meaning “beautiful spring”—no wonder there are streams, fountains, and lakes everywhere. The water is so clear it mirrors the sky☁️. For me, the most precious things in Paris are the ones that cost nothing and can’t be bought with money. This touching scenery can’t be taken away—you can only capture it in photos📸. 👒 TIPS: Take the R line from Gare de Lyon. You can just use your Navigo card (I remember you used to have to buy a separate train ticket)! Head towards Montereau; it takes less than an hour to reach Fontainebleau-Avon station. There are clear signs guiding you to the bus that takes you to the palace. The palace requires a ticket, but the gardens are free. It’s true that it’s a bit far and a little troublesome, and there aren’t many guides on Xiaohongshu—I’m just sharing a bit of my experience! #SeeTheWorldWithoutFilters #RechargeInThePark #ParisTravel #Fontainebleau #ChâteauDeFontainebleau
