Paris V019 | Two Exquisite Sculpture Museums in Paris

Paris is home to many small yet beautiful museums. My favorite museums are those where the exhibits naturally interact with the architecture and space, without the artificial display and alienation of glass cases. The two sculpture museums I recommend are both former creative spaces and living quarters of the artists themselves, imbued with their personal taste and artistic aura. 1. **Rodin Museum** Admission: €14 This place was once Rodin's residence. He lived here from 1908 and transformed the ground floor of the building into his studio. In his later years, Rodin was allowed to live and work here for life in exchange for donating all his works to the French government (which thereby gained the right to reproduce Rodin's works). He passed away here in 1917, and the residence later became the Rodin Museum. The architecture is stunning, with exquisite details, beautiful windows, and comfortable natural light. 🌟 Here you can find masterpieces like "The Gates of Hell," "The Thinker," "Hugo," "The Kiss," and "Eve on the Rock." There’s also a romantic and magnificent garden, featuring the famous "The Thinker" statue. 🌺 At the Rodin Museum, you can also see works by Camille Claudel, Rodin's student and lover. Their close relationship influenced her life and artistic career, creating a complex interplay that makes her works resemble Rodin's in many ways. However, Camille Claudel has her own unique style and lyricism. 🎨 2. **Bourdelle Museum** Admission: Free The Bourdelle Museum (Musee Bourdelle) was designed by Rodin's pupil Antoine Bourdelle as his own exhibition space. The museum features large-scale sculptures and a naturally lit skylight. It showcases famous works such as "Apollo's Head," "Herakles Archer," "Penelope," "Dying Centaur," and "Sapho." 🏛️ His studio is also here, preserved exactly as it was during his lifetime. Everything remains unchanged: the stove, the large wooden table assembled by Bourdelle's father, and the potter's wheel are all in their original places. Ancient-style molds, warrior armor, and medieval display stands are all part of the studio. The sculpture garden outside the studio is very beautiful, and there’s a small, charming canary-yellow café on the second floor. ☕️ #Paris #ParisTravel #ParisianMuseums #EuropeanTravel #ParisTravelTips
