Pittsburgh | My Favorite Art Gallery Here: Mattress Factory

✔️As the hometown of Andy Warhol, Pittsburgh is steeped in artistic atmosphere. However, compared to galleries with paintings on the walls, I prefer the Mattress Factory. ✔️The Mattress Factory was literally a mattress factory in the past (I know, right?), but it was later purchased by an artist to display their own and their friends' art, gradually becoming what it is today. Unlike traditional art exhibitions, it feels more like interactive art and changes its exhibits over time. ✔️Outside the Mattress Factory, there is a peculiar water system where one can walk underground to view a skylight. It feels incredibly similar to the Palácio de Monserrate in Lisbon. I excitedly told my mom about this strange exterior landscape, and she responded, "Isn't that just an old drainage system?" Well, I guess she has a point! ✔️The exhibitions here are all very interesting. The last time I visited, there were indoor-grown flowers with aluminum foil covering the walls, blocking out all sunlight. The plants relied entirely on indoor lighting for energy, seemingly as an ecological warning. Now it has transformed into a strange bedroom, which feels a lot like the year in the movie "The Wishing Stairs." ✔️The Mattress Factory also hosts the highly sought-after permanent exhibition of Yayoi Kusama! Thinking about how others would break their heads to see the exhibition that is so close and easily accessible to me, I immediately made arrangements to visit! ✔️I won't introduce the specific content of the light exhibition on the second floor of the main building. This is my favorite part; you should experience it for yourself! #Pittsburgh #Pittsburgh #USATravel #DCAround #NewYorkAround #PittsburghTravel
