Pittsburgh Let’s Eat Something Good (Part 1)

Been here a year—moved from Squirrel Hill to Shadyside, so I decided to put together a food roundup 😋 All places I’ve been to multiple times. Feel free to use this as a guide! 🍳 Cafe Moulin 📍Shadyside | 💰 $20 per person A trendy brunch spot—lines out the door every weekend! Specializes in crêpes. Highly recommend the savory Alaska: soft crêpe + smoked salmon + herb schmear + spinach = absolutely delicious. Cleaned my plate every time 🥞 They also have sweet crêpes and French toast—all excellent. Drinks are great too—the iced peach tea is super refreshing! 🍑 🍕 Mercurio‘s Pizza 📍Shadyside | 💰 $25 per person My favorite Italian pizza and gelato in town! Thin-crust, wood-fired style. Their Margherita is a must-try 🍅 I prefer the red sauce over the white (Bianca). The gelato is amazing—not too sweet, smooth texture. Try the green tea peach flavor—so unique! Other classic flavors are great too. In summer, go for the sorbet—lemon and other dairy-free options are light and refreshing 🍦 🍲 Meet with Pot 📍Oakland | 💰 $45 (usually with leftovers) My ultimate comfort food—Three Cup Chicken! It’s sweet and savory with rich sauce, so avoid if you don’t like sweet dishes. The dry-fried green beans and beef rolls are also tasty 👍 So far no disappointments, but some dishes lean toward American-Chinese style, so choose carefully. Desserts are worth trying too—the taro ice is yummy 🍧 🥯 Pigeon Bagel 📍Squirrel Hill | 💰 $5–20 The best bagels in Pittsburgh! Chewy and sturdy—might give you a jaw workout 😆 Sometimes there’s a line, sometimes not. Staff are super sweet and friendly! My go-to: Everything Bagel with herb tofu schmear (vegan, creamy, tangy, not too heavy). The honey & fig schmear is decent but basic. They also have loaded options like white fish or lox bagels, but I haven’t tried them yet ’cause I’m obsessed with the tofu spread 😂 One bagel = one full meal. 🍛 Took Took 98 📍Squirrel Hill | 💰 $25–40 The best Thai food in Squirrel Hill (in my opinion!). The pineapple fried rice with honey walnut shrimp is UNREAL 🍤🤍 Miss it even when I’m back in China! If you like spice, go for level 2—so flavorful and wok-hei vibes 🔥 Pad Thai is solid. Apps like shrimp cakes and squid are authentic Thai-style. They also have a chocolate roti with condensed milk—so cozy in winter like drinking hot cocoa ☕️, but skip it in summer! #PittsburghFood #PittsburghEats #Pitt #CMU #Pittsburgh 🎒🍴
