Pittsburgh Food Adventure 🌮 Now I Get the Hype Around täkō!

Weekend calls for some comforting 🇲🇽 Mexican flavors~ This spot is a sister location to the one downtown: the menus are slightly different, but the taste is just as legendary! Here’s my take: We tried three types of tacos: 🐙 täkō 💲22 Their signature grilled octopus leg—of course, we had to try it! A whole, thick tentacle, tender and packed with flavor. Served with spicy mayo—mild heat, not overwhelming—and crispy fried chickpeas for extra texture. But the seasoning was a bit heavy; one taco was perfect for sharing. Two might be too salty! 🐂 Brisket 💲17 Beef brisket—long fibers, super juicy, a classic choice for beef taco lovers. This one was cooked perfectly: tender but not mushy, rich and flavorful. Like the octopus, the portion was huge! One taco = instant satisfaction. 🍤 Coconut Shrimp 💲17 My friend’s last-minute add-on—exclusive to this location! Smelled sweet and coconutty 🥥, but tasted savory (don’t worry, Northern friends—not too sweet!). The gochujang sauce added a mild kick—great for Korean food fans. The shrimp were huge, fresh, and perfectly fried—definitely not low-quality filler! The contrast between hot shrimp and cold slaw was chef’s kiss! Besides tacos, we also tried a bowl—another exclusive here! You customize everything: base, protein, veggies, toppings, cheese, sauce, and even crunchy bits. We went with mixed mushrooms as the "protein"—so flavorful! Added roasted sweet potatoes, crispy Brussels sprouts, black beans, spicy cucumber (highly recommend—would buy this separately!), pickled red onions, and cold slaw. It looked messy but tasted incredible! Next time, I’m grabbing a brisket bowl to go. 🍹 And of course—we had to try the margaritas! Ordered two spicy ones: she got the 🥒 cucumber, I got the 🍍 pineapple. The cucumber was refreshing, but the pineapple was my favorite—like spicy pineapple juice, perfect for summer! So easy to drink… maybe too easy 😂 (Designated driver, be careful!) Check out the interior in the pics—vibrant, stylish, and full of energy! 🇲🇽 täkō tôrtä 📍 122 Bakery Square Blvd Happy Hour Wed-Fri with half-priced deals—super worth it! Weekend parking: 3 hours free in the garage. So, how was your weekend? Eat anything delicious? If you enjoyed this review, remember to like, save, and follow! #Pittsburgh #PittsburghFood #PittsburghEats#FoodAdventure #MexicanFood 🌮🔥🍹
