Pittsburgh Food Adventure ✨ Spork
Finally checked off this long-time favorite on my must-try list! Right after we were seated, even before ordering drinks, we started with a bowl of mushroom soup to whet our appetite. ✨Small Plates Assorted Mushrooms 🍄 The stars were mushrooms and napa cabbage, but it was so delicious! The sauce was made with cheese, hazelnut oil, and scallions—the umami of the mushrooms rivaled meat! Crispy Octopus 🐙 The plating was beautiful, but the octopus was just okay—overcooked and not tender enough. The shredded cabbage underneath had a wasabi kick, which was refreshing and tasty! Overall, not recommended. Seared Scallops 🐚 Scallop lovers, don’t miss this! The scallops were slightly sweet and perfectly seared—tender with a hint of rareness, just how I like them! The ravioli was filled with black truffle and ricotta, not heavy at all, and the wrapper had a nice chew. The broth also had truffle notes—so good I could lick the plate clean! After the appetizers, we got a basket of bread! Focaccia and sourdough. The herb butter spread was incredibly fragrant. The mini tacos were also a nice touch. ✨Entrees Lamp Duo 🐑 Two lamb chops on top, and three slices of rolled lamb breast underneath~ The flavors were rich and layered: thyme-infused gravy, raspberry-pear fruit compote, and duck liver pâté under the lamb breast. The sides were super tasty too, but the portion was huge. Mushroom Ravioli 🇮🇹 Since we already had meat in the main course, we wanted to try their pasta to see how good it was. And because we were so impressed by the mushroom appetizer, we went with this. Three palm-sized ravioli blew my mind, plus actual oyster mushrooms! The carrot cream sauce (couldn’t taste the 🥕), sunflower seeds, and Brussels sprouts added a crispy texture and layers of flavor. The seasoning was incredibly delicious times 100! We were already stuffed, but you know, girls always have a second stomach for dessert~ ✨3-course Dessert Lemon puff with berries 🍋 The lemon flavor was just right—so good! Mango strawberry sorbet 🥭 Absolutely amazing! Especially the translucent jelly with a hint of mint—so refreshing! Chocolate mousse bomb 🍫 This one was weaker compared to the first two. The mousse had a coffee-chocolate flavor. 🍹Cocktails (couldn’t fit all the pics~) We ordered the Miso Guava, Milk Punch, and a Martini—all unexpectedly delicious! And at the end of the meal, they even gave us two chocolates each~ 🌟 Spork 📍 5430 Penn Avenue 🅿️ They have a small parking lot across the street, and street parking is also convenient. Overall, this place is on the pricier side, but the experience was great. You’re paying for the ingredient pairings, the chef’s skills, and the seasoning rather than just the value of the ingredients themselves. Whether it’s worth the price depends on what you value 🤔 Hope this review is helpful~ If you liked it, remember to give it a like and save! #Pittsburgh #PittsburghFood #PittsburghFoodAdventure#WeekendVibes #PittsburghDiningGuide 😊🍴
