Please Don’t Tell: The Hidden Speakeasy in Manhattan 🍸

I remember four years ago when I first bought the PDT cocktail book, I thought to myself, “If I ever get the chance, I have to visit this mysterious bar hidden inside a hot dog shop.” Four years later, I never expected that I’d actually move to New York and start my big-city life. 🌃 🎢 PDT is super famous in the speakeasy bar world, especially for its hidden location, the novelty of the phone booth entrance, and its innovative cocktails. 📞 🌸I thought that choosing a Sunday evening would mean no reservation needed and a quick seat. But I underestimated its popularity. Even going alone, I had to wait at least an hour. Thankfully, there was Crif’s Hot Dog right there, so I could grab a hot dog to pass the time. 🌭 Recently, PDT launched some outdoor themed activities. When I arrived, they were setting up a beach club. I discovered that the bartenders working outside were actually from PDT. This led to meeting several of them, and they were super nice, even letting me skip the line to get into the bar. 🥹 🌊 The bar’s design is simple and cozy, with a lot of New York bars keeping the red brick aesthetic. The bar can seat 12 people, and they have their own menu. If you’re hungry, you can order food; I heard many dishes are created in collaboration with well-known local New York chefs. 🌸Since I was alone, I only ordered two drinks to try: Roman Spiritz: This one was super refreshing, a clever mix of watermelon and gin, with sweet basil and a touch of sea salt. I loved it! 🍉 🍃 Kashmiri Lassi: I’m not sure what the name means, but it’s very Indian-inspired. It’s based on gin, with saffron, curry, and yogurt. Such a magical combination—spicy yet smooth. 🍃 I heard that the bar owner sometimes hosts cocktail classes, which I’d love to join if I have time!
