Pokhara - The Mysterious Caves! There is an ancient Shiva statue insi
đThere are many lakes around Pokhara on the map, and the groundwater system is very abundant. I guess there must be a lot of cave resources in this area.â¨I didn't expect to find a huge limestone cave right in the city. â¨Mahendra CaveLocated near the city center of Pokhara, it is a rare stalactite and stalagmite cave in Nepal, with a total length of 200 meters and a height of 660 feet. The interior is very dark and slippery. â¨Inside the cave, there is a statue of the Hindu god Shiva. The ancient stone carving has a five-headed serpent body, which looks very old and mysterious, giving off a sense of primitive totemism. â¨This cave was discovered by a shepherd in Pokhara in the 1950s. The cave's former name was "Adhero Bhawan," which literally means "dark habitat." â¨The cave is named after the late King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev (the then ruler of the country), who visited the place immediately after reading about it in a Newari newspaper. The cave was officially named Mahendra after it was inaugurated by King Mahendra at that time. There is also a small waterfall nearby called Devi's Fall Pokhara. It is located just across the way and contains a deep underground cave that seems to be connected to the groundwater system of Pokhara. â¤ď¸It feels like Pokhara might be a great place for cave exploration, in addition to trekking and paragliding. I met a British teacher on the way who came here specifically for cave exploration, but a professional guide is needed. â ď¸Admission: 100 Rupees #Pokhara #Nepal #FewaLakePokhara #CaveExploration #Caving #OffTheBeatenPath #Travel #PokharaTourism
