Portland Food Highlights in Oregon 🍽️
Powell Seafood 🦀 This is a Chinese restaurant I've visited twice, and it offers amazing value! The Sesame Shrimp, despite its name, is actually quite large. Each bite is fresh and has a wonderful springy texture—so delicious! 😋 We also ordered the Dungeness Crab with salted egg yolk sauce. While the flavor was a tad mild for my taste, the crab meat was incredibly plump and fresh, with the shells filled to the brim with rich crab roe 🦀. We were so enthralled by the food that we forgot to take pictures of some dishes. One such standout was the Two - Way Rockfish. The steamed part was a testament to the fish's natural freshness, and the fish soup was hearty and full of flavor, unanimously voted the best of the night by our group. The Clams in Black Bean Sauce were huge, sand - free, and super fresh and meaty. And the Garlicky Water Spinach was tender and perfectly cooked. The average cost per person is around $50. Bing Mi 🍙 The only drawback of Bing Mi is its price—$12 per item, which is a bit steep. However, the taste is truly on point! The sweet bean sauce has that familiar, authentic flavor straight from back home in China. The crispy cracker inside is thin and delightfully crunchy. As we ate, we couldn't help but joke that it would be even better with a Wang Zhong Wang sausage inside! The fresh lettuce adds a refreshing crunch, making each bite a harmonious blend of textures. Nong’s Khao Man Gai 🍗 Finally, I got to try the legendary Longjiang Pig's Trotter Rice here. The pig's trotters are stewed to a tender, melt - in - your - mouth consistency. However, my friend who accompanied me didn't find it overly impressive, and we both thought the sauce could have been more abundant. If you've never tried this dish, it's worth a visit, but I'm not sure if we'll be back for seconds. Noa Sushi 🍣 The Sweet Shrimp Nigiri at Noa Sushi is incredibly fresh, melting in your mouth. The Miso - Glazed Cod is well - marinated, with a crispy exterior and a tender, flaky interior. The Baked Lobster Roll features large chunks of lobster smothered in a savory sauce. We ordered the $68 sushi box, and every piece was fresh, though not mind - blowingly unique. What surprised us was the Tianjin Rice, which resembled an omelette rice but tasted amazing! The Salt - Grilled Salmon Sushi was fatty and had the perfect texture for me. The sushi rice here is fragrant, with just the right amount of acidity. We also ordered Creamy Udon and Takoyaki, both of which were great. Overall, no dish was a disappointment—everything was delicious! The average cost per person is $50 - 60. You Jian Barbecue 🍖 This is a favorite among our group! The oysters and scallops are truly outstanding, stealing the show. I'm also a big fan of the chicken skin, pork belly, chicken wings, and cuttlefish. In comparison, the lamb and beef are decent but could be fattier for more flavor. The crayfish, priced at $40 for the portion shown, isn't the most cost - effective as it's a bit scarce. However, the flavor is good, and the crayfish have been carefully deveined, which is a plus. Surprisingly, the cucumber in the crayfish dish was really tasty. We also ordered the Tinfoil - Baked Clams. The clams were just okay, but I really liked the small amount of Chinese cabbage in the dish. The Beef and Enoki Mushroom Skewers were relatively more delicious. The average cost per person is around $50. #PortlandFood #OregonFood #PortlandSushi 🌟
