Porto Winery Tour at Quinta da Roêda | Croft Po
On the way back to Spain from Porto, we scheduled a winery tour. The scenery was stunning, driving along the Douro River, with the road winding up and down the mountains. A bit challenging, but totally worth it. 🚗🌄 Picking the winery was a bit of a lucky dip; we just booked one on Google Maps in advance. It’s a winery established by the British in Porto in 1588 and is still run by the same family today. 🇬🇧🌿 Port Wine in English, or Vinho do Porto in Portuguese, literally means Porto Wine. Only the grapes grown in the Douro Valley and brewed in Porto can be called Port Wine. Wines produced elsewhere, even with the same technique, cannot be labeled as such. 🍇🍷 The staff at the winery introduced us to how they cultivate and brew port wine. There were many wine tasting options, but since we’re not connoisseurs and had kids with us, we chose a lunch picnic. It was 63 euros for two, including a cold meal and a bottle of wine. Seven of us ordered three sets, three large baskets full of food, more than we could finish, pretty good value for money. 🥪🍷 The view was breathtaking, a perfect place to unwind. Definitely recommended for an afternoon of daydreaming. 👍🌿 #WineryTour #PortoTravel #PortWine #Porto #PortugalTravel #Travel #Travelrij #Travel #TravelDiary
