Puerto Rican food 🇵🇷 El Quenepo is said to be a must-try on V Island
When planning the trip, I kept seeing tons of people rave about this spot—so I booked a reservation weeks in advance to check out this "Vieques must-eat"! Here’s my ordering guide 📝—save it! 【Food Recommendations】 🌟 Seafood Pasta The noodles are flat, chewy, and soak up all the sauce perfectly~ The mussels are unreal—the best I’ve ever had! Juicy, plump, and totally non-fishy. The whole family was obsessed—unanimous compliments! Rice bowl count (how much we loved it): 🍚🍚🍚🍚🥢 🌟 Grouper Rice + Langoustine This one’s made for Asian taste buds! The rice is drizzled with XO sauce—salty, fragrant, and so good it makes you want seconds! The grouper is tender, and there’s even a langoustine on the side—worth it~ Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚🍚 🌟 Grilled Swordfish It comes with white rice, and the sauce is a pineapple curry flavor. Honestly, it’s just okay—nothing too impressive. Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚 🌟 Braised Pork Shank Osso bucco is a classic Italian dish, usually with veal shank, but they use pork here. The meat is tender, sure, but not eye-opening. Rice bowl count: 🍚🍚🍚🥢 🌟 Appetizers We got octopus legs and seafood ceviche 🐙 The octopus is tender and tasty. The ceviche is tangy—by the bottom, it gets a bit too sour, though. 🌟 Cocktails There’s a plum-ginger cocktail, but the ginger flavor is way too strong—couldn’t finish it 😣 The pineapple one is nice, though—tastes like sweet pineapple juice (not a piña colada, fyi)! ⛳️ El Quenepo 148 Calle Flamboyan, Vieques, 00765, Puerto Rico 【Final Thoughts】 📌 Book online weeks in advance—otherwise, you won’t get a table! 📌 Maybe the "must-eat" hype set my expectations too high, and with the price tag, I don’t think it’s that essential. Go with lower expectations, and you’ll probably enjoy it more! 📌 At $70 per person, it’s fine dining for the island, but I still prefer casual, down-to-earth eats!
