Reflecting While Sitting by the Sea in Townsville 🌊
As you can see, I’m sitting by the waterfront in Townsville using the outdoor fitness equipment. The evenings here are incredibly pleasant—combining ocean views with a light workout is just unbeatable! 🌅💪 The boardwalk is always lively with people walking, running, and walking their dogs 🐕🦺🚶♀️. After spending a month here, I’ve been thinking about why so many people choose Townsville. It’s not just a retirement paradise—it’s also a great place for young people to live. During the day, the city is quiet and hot, but at night, Flinder Street’s bar strip comes alive! 🍻🎶 There are plenty of job opportunities for visa extensions: sushi shops, hotels, JBS meatworks… There’s even a Seoul Market specifically for Koreans—which says a lot about the Korean community here! 🍣🥩 Civic Pub Hostel is like the intel hub—most backpackers stay and share info there. The pier offers ferries to Magnetic Island 🏝️ where you can snorkel and spot wildlife like koalas 🐨. There’s Castle Hill right in the city 🏔️, Mount Louisa, and even an ice-skating rink! Public transport is available (bus), but having a bike 🚲 makes getting around even easier. It’s a tropical city—perfect for people like me who hate the cold ❄️🙅♀️. Compare that to my second year in Gatton working at a veggie farm—with no car, I was stuck and bored out of my mind 😴… So yes, the perks are pretty clear. The downside? Jobs are hard to find—it took me over a month to even start one. Hours can be limited, life can get slow, and the Asian supermarket is a bit pricey 🛒💸. But still—grateful for the sun, the sea, and the simple joys ☀️🌊💛. #WorkingHolidayInAustralia #LifeInAustralia #MyDailyLife #WHV
