Review of Vegas’ Most Upscale “Hot Pot” Spot

Las Vegas’ The X Pot gets mixed reviews — some love it, some avoid it. Drawn by their single-person set menu and Wagyu offerings, I decided to check it out myself. 🦢 Swan Pastry (Salted Egg Yolk Lava Puff): Exquisitely crafted — crispy shell, oozy filling when poked with chopsticks. Flavor and texture were excellent. 🍷 Red Wine Foie Gras: Similar to what you’d get in China — well-prepared, though the slice was a bit thin. 🥩 Raw Wagyu Beef Tartare: I’m usually not big on raw beef, but the addition of caviar showed effort. 🐂 Copper Bull Add-on ($28): Features short rib and beef tongue grilled on a hot stone — very tasty. Also includes Wagyu sashimi sushi and Wagyu-wrapped foie gras for hot pot. Honestly, these lacked distinct flavor, but you’re already here — and the liquid nitrogen table-side show was fun. 🍲 Main Set Includes: Wagyu slices (ribeye cap, chuck roll, sirloin) Whole lobster Wagyu meatballs & dumplings Vegetables The Wagyu and lobster were top-tier — and the lobster head had roe and meat, not just for show. Wagyu meatballs were springy, but honestly hard to tell apart from Angus beef ones (same with dumplings). Pro tip: Cook the greens last to absorb the broth’s oils and enhance flavor. ⚠️ The Biggest Letdown: Dipping sauces are only sesame paste or garlic oil! Sesame paste with Wagyu is okay, but sesame paste with lobster? Unbearable. I asked for the BBQ sauce and vinegar used for the grilled Wagyu — just passable, nowhere near a dedicated sauce bar. 🍜 Broth Choice: I picked lobster broth (comes with a big piece of lobster meat, broth is fresh). But this was a poor choice — the broth was too mild, and the set already includes lobster. Other tables had spicy mala broth — probably smarter. 🍚 Bone Marrow Stone Pot Rice: Server mixes it for you — decent but a bit salty. 💰 Final Bill: $240+ after tax & tip (solo diners get the whole stone pot). Portions are huge — I was pretty full. The restaurant shows sincere effort with premium ingredients: A5 Wagyu, caviar, foie gras, lobster — all covered. Presentation is elegant, styled like upscale Western dining. Verdict: ✅ Ingredients: 10/10 ✅ Presentation: 10/10 ❌ Seasoning & Sauce Game: Almost none If you see it as a Wagyu-tasting experience — for premium ingredients and ceremony — it’s worth it. But if you expect a true hot pot restaurant — it barely passes (unless you could bring your own broth and sauces). #Wagyu #HotPot #UpscaleDining #LasVegas
