Richmond Steveston | KUN Omakase Bar Review

After hearing rave reviews about KUN Omakase Bar (supposedly helmed by a former Miku chef), I decided to give it a try for my first post-trip meal. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. 🍣 The Good, The Bad & The Salty ✔️ Fresh Wasabi – The real deal, not the dyed horseradish paste. ✔️ Decent Lunch Crowd – Clearly popular, but maybe for the price point? ❌ Rice Texture – Too firm, lacking the delicate balance of good sushi rice. ❌ Cold Oshi Sushi – Expected warm, pressed sushi but got fridge-chilled instead. ❌ Lukewarm Miso Soup – More like room temperature than comforting hot. ❌ Overly Salty Soy Sauce – Needed serious dilution. ❌ No Uni (Sea Urchin) – A major letdown for an omakase spot. 💰 Pricing & Alternatives $29 Lunch Set – Affordable, but quality didn’t match expectations. A La Carte Option? Maybe better, but I’m hesitant to return. 📍 Location & Vibe Steveston’s KUN Omakase Bar sits in the heart of the fishing village, but the experience didn’t capture the freshness you’d expect from a seaside sushi spot. Final Verdict Would I go back? Probably not. If you're craving high-quality omakase in Richmond, Toshi Sushi or Shiro Japanese Cuisine might be safer bets. #RichmondEats #SushiFail #OmakaseOrPass
